Is your business website working for you, or against you?

Your business website should be helping you get sales. If it is not, you are wasting a golden marketing opportunity.

Jim Connolly has this to say about websites,

“When I look at 99.9% of business websites or blogs, I can see immediately that they are not generating many sales, leads or enquiries.  The owners of those sites wrongly assume that this is “just how it is.”  They know that they need a site to help market their business, and wrongly assume that the results will come magically somewhere down the road.  It doesn’t work like that.”

You can, and should, read the rest of his thoughts in his article, “Marketing: Make everything count!” at JimsMarketingBlog.com.

I think a website is in particular danger of being an under-performing marketing asset. Most businesses know that they should have a website, but aren’t sure what they should do with one. Unfortunately, many people who design websites, either for a hobby or professionally, don’t know the first thing about optimizing them as a marketing tool for small business.

A good website attracts visits, gains visitors attention, and then brings in leads or sales. It is a simple idea that often takes a lot of behind the scenes work to make happen. The good news is that there are some proven paths to making your small business website a marketing machine. The bad news is that many small business websites don’t even start down the path.

Are you settling for an under-performing website and just hoping that it is worthwhile? Or do you have a marketing machine that you are proud of, that you tell the world about?

Your website should be good enough to attract visits and generate leads. It should be so good that you end up sending prospective customers there to learn more about your business, because you know that they will be convinced to work with you. If you don’t even tell anyone about your website, its time to get it fixed. Don’t let it hold your business back any longer. Get your website working for you.
